Teleclass Protocol

When participating in a teleclass:

Quiet Please

Plan to be in a quiet room, by yourself. Make the call. If there are others in the area, place a "Please Do Not Disturb" note on your door. If you have a dog or other animal, please be sure they cannot be heard.

Use a Land-Based Phone Only

Do not use a cellular, mobile, or speaker phone. They can affect the quality of the call for others in the group. If you have a two-line phone, or other phones in your office, please turn off the ringer(s).

Disable Call Waiting

You can do this by dialing *70.

Bridge Line

Dial the number that you were given at your designated time. The system is automated so there is no Operator. PLEASE NOTE: The phone will continue ringing until at least two people are connected. When you are connected, please announce yourself. The TeleClass leader will be responsible for roll call.

If You Are Late

Wait to announce your arrival until there is an appropriate break to do so. The telephone will beep to acknowledge a new person has come on the line. Listen and catch on to what is being discussed.

To Ask a Question

Wait until the session leader calls for questions. If you have a question or comment, state your first name, then wait to be acknowledged before speaking. If you wish to comment on something another group member has said, go through the instructor. Please keep your comments short and positive since your input will affect other people's learning.

If you have a question and time does not permit you to ask during the call, please do not hesitate to drop us an e-mail and it will be answered promptly.

Keeping the Lines Clear

Use your mute button unless you are asking a question. The lines are very sensitive. By using your mute button it helps ensure that the lines are clear for everyone. If you don't have a mute button on your phone, you can press *6 to mute the line. Press *6 again to un-mute when you wish to speak.

Do Not Put Us on Hold

If you must leave the class, do not announce your departure. Simply hang up. When you're ready to re-enter the class, dial the bridge line number again. Do not announce that you are back.

Full Participation

Everyone will count on your full participation. Please plan to stay for the full class.

Take Aways

At the end of the session, you will be asked to share your comments about what you got from the session. Use the same procedure as for asking questions -- give your name first, then your comments.

NOTE: You may NOT audio tape the TeleClass. Make plenty of notes, participate and have fun!

By registering for this TeleClass you agree not to share your bridge line number with anyone else.
